Ivan Belikov is a Russian born and raised illustrator, based in Saint Petersburg who has managed the -almost- impossible: to give a historical emblem quite an imaginative interpretation.
How? By first rendering the 7-colour emblem of the Netherlands Coat of Arms, which was then translated into hundreds of cut fragments that were paintstakingly assembled into multiple levels (suspended layers of cut paper, yep, it only sounds that simple).
Yes, it took him about six months to achieve this.
But this superb interpretation of this historical emblem and the end result were simply worth every second of his time. And every bit of his effort.
Thumbs up, mate.
