The “Lunettes sunglasses collection” by bad boy Pharrell Williams is featuring three entirely different frames, made all from single pieces of titanium though. And each pair incorporates quite a few design details that reflect the history of the french luxury brand of Moncler, yet every aesthetic approach has absolutely nothing to do with the other. One pair was born of clear steampunk influences, the other of space frames and the third has clean traditional lines.
About MonclerMoncler is a clothing company of French origin, founded in 1952 by French entrepreneur René Ramillon. Their specialty are jackets and sportswear. Moncler took its name from the abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, an Alpine town near Grenoble. In 2003 the brand was bought out by Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, today's President and Creative Director of the company, who was to introduce the strategy of the global quilted jacket..
Do note that the official presentation of the Pharrell Williams x Moncler Lunette sunglasses collection is due to be held in Paris, on September 26th at the opening of the Moncler flagship store (at 7 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré). As for the sunglasses, they shall be available late September at Moncler stores worldwide (also in selected multi-brand concept stores and international opticians), as well as online.
Remembering: Pharrell Williams co-founded the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear. Plus, he owns a boutique store in New York City on West Broadway. And back in 2008, the artist co-designed a series of jewelry (titled “Blason”) and glasses for Louis Vuitton.
