To mark Hans J. Wegner’s 100th birthday, Carl Hansen & Son relaunched a credenza Wegner designed in 1958. The advanced construction and sophisticated design have culminated in an exclusive credenza that has, to date, been a highly coveted auction item – but will be available for delivery from September 2014.
The CH825 was originally one of a series of three credenzas launched in 1959 based on Wegner’s original drawings. In recent years, the design, particularly the palisander version, has been a highly coveted furniture piece at auctions.
Although it looks simple, the credenza features an advanced design with roller shutter doors, requiring double sides and rear panel between which the roller shutters run on a track and disappear when opened.

“We wanted to observe Wegner’s 100th birthday in style and celebrate his approach to detail-oriented craftsmanship – and sought an item of furniture that showcased this. The credenza certainly does. The CH825 also complements our range nicely and is so versatile that it is ideal for a home living room, a hotel lounge, or an office setting,” comments Knud Erik Hansen, CEO of Carl Hansen & Son.

The credenza, originally made of palisander and teak, has today been replaced with walnut and oak. The CH825 frame has been updated and has been drawn in 2cm from the front and rear edges to allow the credenza to be placed flush against walls with baseboards. The legs are either round wooden ones in solid oak or walnut or steel loops, which are also used in Wegner’s CH100 series. The different variants allow the credenza to match a wide range of interior styles and settings.

The credenza offers an ideal surface for artistically arranging favorite objects, while other items can be stowed behind the elegant roller shutter doors. The interior features adjustable shelves and pullout drawers designed to enable simple installation of additional drawers.
