Japanese design studio Nendo has been awarded the Designer of the Year title for this year’s Maison&Objet and his most recent work was an installation called the Chocolatexture Lounge, which was showcased at the Maison & Objet fair held in Paris. The Chocolatexture Lounge was a multi-sensory space, dedicated to chocolate lovers, highlighted by the inclusion of a wave sculpture that surrounded the furniture — constructed out of 2,000 chocolate pipes. To create the look Nendo reached out to Italian furniture companies he has previously worked with and asked them to provide seating “covered” in chocolate tones. The studio has also created a range of nine chocolates (4,000 sets) moulded into unusual shapes within a 26-millimetre cube for the visitors to enjoy in this deliciously regressive space.
