Designed by Spanish architects Designhouses, hotel Viura is located in the heart of a traditional village, next to the 17th century church, in Villabuena de Alava, in the enchanting wine region of La Rioja, Spain.This architectural masterpiece is nothing but a series of concrete cubes, one on top of the other, that seem to rise out of the ground.

Hotel Viura is a brand new hotel like no other. As the architect eschewed all thoughts of vertical and horizontal, he created an ultra-modern fantasy that sits remarkably easily alongside an ultra-traditional church in the centre of the village of Villabuena de Alava. The tumbling pile of superimposed blocks is liberally sprinkled with balconies, terraces and huge windows that all make the most of the views of the village and the surrounding scenery.

Inside, the hotel is just slightly more conventional, with stylish contemporary furnishings and materials giving an atmosphere of unadulterated luxury. For relaxing, there is the spacious bar, the lounge and library or the glorious outside terraces with their views of the nearby church of San Andrés and the distant Sierra de Cantabria mountains. See, the architecture successfully links the interior to the exterior landscape; floor to ceiling windows throughout and private terraces ensure that there is always a view of the village, the Sierra de Cantabria or the church.

The hotel boasts 33 luxurious guestrooms: 15 Viura, 14 Deluxe and 4 Suites. In addition to its superb restaurant and bar, the hotel also features a gym and a rooftop terrace with splendind views the San Andres church, built between 1538 and 1728, not to mention the fantastic views of the mountains of the Sierra de Cantabria.

Situated in Villabuena de Álava in the Rioja Alavesa, this architectural masterpiece is a perfect base for discovering La Rioja. It is only 10 minutes away from such famous wine cellars as Ysios and Marqués de Riscal.
