A visual designer living on the sunny side of the plane: that’s what Athens based Charis Tsevis thinks of himself. But what’s important now is not who he is, rather than what he has created for Yahoo!’s coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Which are six fantastic illustrations that show “once-in-a-lifetime moments that happen every four years only”. This is how Yahoo! describe the experience of the Olympics in their current advertising campaign, and Charis surely couldn’t agree more. Tsevis made three images for three different sports (diving, gymnastics and running) with an extra image for running to represent celebration and victory.

What the award winning designer actually did, was put together a unique, typographically based set of designs (by drowing from multiple influences: punk rock, techno and rave scenes and even Great Britain’s 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement) to celebrate the visual feast that is athletics’ signature international competition and shared the images with Playbook.

And all in all, it built up to a fascinating gallery filled with soccer, track and more.

Olympics aren’t only every athlete’s dream, it seems. Not that we ever believed they were.

“It was all simple and beautiful. A very good partnership with a company that I could only dream of working for, since it is a myth, a real Internet giant”.
