Maserati Quattroporte 2013: Start your engines

2013 Maserati Quattroporte

Its heart is solidly planted in Modena and its middle name is passion. Yes, Maserati has finally revealed its flagship sedan model, the all-new, sixth generation Maserati Quattroporte 2013 – prior to its first public appearance at the upcoming 2013 North American Auto Show (NAIA) in Detroit in mid-January.

The rival of the…usual grand suspects (BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Jaguar XJ) is longer (and yet lighter, thanks to the extended use of aluminum) than its predecessor, while its luxurious styling seems to be fruit of the evolution.

As for the interior, the design of the Italian sports saloon is minimalistic and elegant, offering more space than its predecessor and functional elements are blended with soft quality surfaces made of prestigious woods and refined leathers.

The Maserati Quattroporte 2013 will be powered by an all new, next generation powertrain, designed and developed by Maserati and Ferrari engineers and built at Ferrari’s Maranello plant. Could it be a new force-fed V6 along with the option of four-wheel drive (and in addition to the standard rear-wheel drive configuration)? It remains unknown to this day and we have to patiently wait for the NAIA in Detroit in mid January.

Maserati CEO Harald Wester said that the new Maserati Quattroporte 2013 is actually only one of the three new models being prepared by the company, the other two being the Ghibli mid-size sedan and the Levante crossover.

“Maserati stands today at the edge of an unparalleled strategic and industrial growth that will see our presence in the world rise to 50,000 units a year by 2015,” revealed Wester.
