Named after Sergio Pininfarina, the italian car designer responsible for the most precious Ferrari’s classics, the Sergio is a window-less concept supercar that serves to celebrate the designers legendary vision.
The Sergio two-seater Barchetta, Ferrari’s newest baby, is making its official world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Paying tribute to longtime CEO Sergio Pininfarina, the concept features a two-seater design and will be a street-legal roadster with no windshield or side windows. And, note, its rollbar also serves as a rear spoiler.
The former CEO was in charge of Pininfarina for 40 years before he passed away last July at the age of 85. Pininfarina has been responsible for designing some of the world’s most exotic super cars including the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT and the 1968 Ferrari 250 P/5 concept.
“This concept car renews the spirit and the values of the extraordinary achievements born under the leadership of Sergio Pininfarina, projecting them into the future in the name of exclusivity, innovation and passion”, said Pininfarina in a release.
Courtesy of a Ferrari 570-horsepower 4.5 liter V8 engine, the roadster is capable of doing 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds before maxing out at a top speed of 199 mph. The windshield-less sports car is based on a modern interpretation of Sergio Pininfarina’s masterpieces – the 1965 Dino Berlinetta Speciale.
