Polaroid Collages of Celebrity Portraits by Maurizio Galimberti

Milan based photographer Maurizio Galimberti is introducing us to his polaroid collages, a new kind of mosaic really, entitled Celebrity Works, featuring portraits of celebrities. Each portrait of the Celebrity Works series, shot by Maurizio Galimberti is composed of a multitude of Polaroids to capture a vision of 180 degrees (horizontally and vertically). This grid-like representation of well known faces like Sting, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Robert De Niro, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Benicio del Toro, Lady Gaga and Javier Bardem, among many many others, manages to captivate.

Maurizio Galimberti was born in Como in 1956 and grew up in Meda. At the beginning, he used classic analogic films, mainly working in black and white and in diapo/cibachrome with a Widelux camera. But suddenly, back in 1983, his obsession with the Polaroid camera began. He chose it for the simple reason that, impatient as he always was, could not stand waiting for the process, before finally holding the result of his shoot. Plus,  he was always afraid of the dark in the darkroom. He realized then that the colors on each polaroid photograph were amazingly unique and so he began a long journey of research and experimentation in the use of this media. Galimberti is currently working on a book about Milan in occasion of the 2015 Expo.
