Sergei Polunin dances to “Take Me to Church” by Hozier, directed by David LaChapelle

Ukranian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin has performed his stunning visual interpretation of Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” directed by bad boy David LaChapelle, choreographed by by Jade Hale-Christofi.

Former British Royal Ballet principal dancer Polunin performs dressed only in nude tights, as sunlight glimmers through the white room’s arched windows, creating a spiritual effect. And do note this: Polunin, currently a principal dancer with The Stanislavsky Music Theatre (Moscow) and the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (Novosibirsk) in Russia, was shortlisted as the best male dancer for The 2014 National Dance awards.

His passionate, mesmerising four-minute sequence is an attempt to embody the demons of Hozier’s Grammy-nominated hit. So this is really not just a dance. But an exorcism.
