Introducing the majestic Svart bike, designed by BIKEID, available at the MoMA store.

Our new favourite is -hands down- this incredibly sleek Svart bike by BIKEID. Blurring the lines of transportation and high design, SVART was created exclusively for the MoMA store in New York. With a sleek matte black frame and components in glossy black it’s a completely unique design. The handlebars are drop-down with black grips made from special microfiber for resilience against moisture and temperature shifts. A bicycle in its purest form, this minimalist urban commuter bike is a Swedish design that is eliminating the clutter of cables and levers.

Like most Scandinavian and many European cities, the bicycle is the preferred mode of transport and has been for over 100 years. These guys started their mission in Stockholm back in 2009, when a small group of Swedish cyclists and designers fanatical about bicycle design came together with an idea. 5 years and 3 design lines later, they have their very own boutique store/workshop in Stockholm and their creative studio in Soho, New York. “]About BIKEID[/infobox]

Yes, it has an automatic two-speed gear system built into the rear hub that shifts automatically up and down at 11 mph. And that hub has a built-in rear foot brake, and the optional front brake is included. Certainly, the 22” frame is lightweight at only 25lbs and is made of durable CrMo steel, while the grips are made from special microfiber for resilience against moisture and temperature shifts. Naturally, reflectors are included, but assembly is required.

Do note though that Svart is a MoMA exclusive design which means it’s only currently available for purchase through the MoMA store.
