Citroën has just introduced us to their latest model, and let us tell you this one thing: the Divine DS Concept is crazy, fierce and we love it. The French Giant has furthermore confirmed that its DS brand is to be separated from its parent for good, which means future European-market DS models won’t feature any Citroën badging.

“Citroën will be defined by affordability and practicality, while DS-badged cars will major on distinctive styling, sophisticated equipment, and luxuriously-appointed interiors”, according to the company.

The fierce Divine DS concept, which has 270bhp (1.6-litre turbocharged engine) and an interior featuring silk, beads and crystals features no Citroën badges, and was the first indication that European-market models may lose the Citroën branding they currently feature.

The roof has been designed to resemble “the scales of a reptile”, according to the Giant. And, of course, that crazy effect continues at the front, with a grille made up of floating diamond-shaped pieces of chrome which supposedly reflect light. And you don’t actually have a rear window. A 10.4-inch touchscreen doubles as the driver interface and a rear-view camera. The DS also has new-fangled laser headlights and holographic head-up display. It’s set with cut and polished stones, including gold-flecked black granite for the clock surround.

Note this: the Divine DS (it’s the size of a C4, At 4.21m long and 1.35m high, the Divine is around 4cm shorter and 11cm lower than a VW Golf,) will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show next month – on 2 October 2014.
